Caramel Crunch Soft Pretzels

Ingredients: 

1 1/2 cups warm water

1/4 c butter, melted (1/2 stick)

1 T. brown sugar

1 t. kosher salt

1 package active dry yeast (2 1/4 t.)

4 1/2 c. flour, 22 ounces

1 t. malt powder

1 T. vital wheat gluten

(Vegetable oil, for baking sheet)

10 cups water

1 T. baking soda

1 large egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water

and 1 T. brown sugar

1/2 c. slivered almonds, chopped, toasted in nonstick skillet

*or- use pretzel salt (coarse)
