Apple and Cheddar Spelt Scones

Ingredients: 

2 tart apples
1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup spelt flour
1/4 cup sugar plus 1 tbsp for dusting
1/2 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp kosher salt.
6 tbsp cold, Earth Balance butter cut into 1//2 chunks
1/2 cup vegan buttermilk
1/2 cup packed Daiya cheddar cheese, shredded
1 lightly beaten egg plus 1 egg for wash
