Apple-Ginger Chutney


When we had Sunday dinner at my grandparents’ house, Gran always had extra jars of this fruity, spicy relish for us to take home. It’s delicious on roasted or grilled chicken...try it spooned over cream cheese on a cracker too. Yum!


4 Granny Smith apples, cored, peeled and chopped
2 c. onion, minced
1 red pepper, minced
1/4 c. fresh ginger, peeled and minced
1 c. golden raisins
1-1/2 c. cider vinegar
1-1/2 c. dark brown sugar, packed
3/4 t. dry mustard
3/4 t. salt
1/2 t. red pepper flakes
6 1/2-pint canning jars and lids, sterilized
