Asian Short Ribs

1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup rice vinegar
2 cloves garlic, peeled and smashed
1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
8 beef short ribs (about 4 pounds)
4 medium carrots, peeled and halved crosswise
1 small green cabbage (about 1 pound), quartered
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon sesame oil
4 scallions, thinly sliced (optional)

Yep I'd be in. I've had a slow cooker for about 6 months now and I really enjoy it. I can throw stuff in quickly in the morning and it's ready by the time I get home from work. It seems very forgiving, as the food generally turns out delicious with very little effort and often without a well thought-out recipe.
