Ingredients: 

BUTTERMILK BISCUITS

2 1/2 cups self-rising flour (or 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 3 1/4 teaspoons baking powder, and 3/8 teaspoon salt if you don't have self-rising flour)
2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons vegetable shortening
4 tablespoons butter (chilled)
1 cup chilled buttermilk

SAUSAGE GRAVY

1lb sage pork sausage
1/4 cup finely chopped yellow onion
1/3 cup flour
4 cups whole milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons black pepper plus more to taste
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
a pinch of cayenne pepper
