Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting II

Ingredients: 

CAKE:
1 1/2 C dark brown sugar
3/4 C canola oil
1/3 C unsweetened applesauce
4 egg whites
2 C all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
1/8 tsp ground ginger
2 1/2 C grated carrots (about 3/4 lb carrots)
1/3 C chopped walnuts
FROSTING:
1 C confectioners' sugar
12 oz reduced-fat cream cheese (neufchatel), at room temperature
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
