Get Started - 100% free to try - join in 30 seconds1 large loaf or boule-style Italian bread (Sourdough or French could also work)
½ cup butter (unsalted or salted is fine)
2 cloves garlic
1 cup shredded cheese (6-cheese Italian mix)
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. 2. Cut a cross-hatch pattern into the top of the bread by slicing ½-inch grid lines into the bread, stopping about ¼-inch from the bottom of the bread so that it stays together. Place the bread on a piece of foil.
3. Partially melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Mince the garlic (preferably with a garlic press) and add it to the butter. Return to microwave the melt the butter fully.
4. Brush the butter-garlic mixture into all of the cracks in the bread, reserving a little. Stuff the cheese into the cracks next, pushing it down as far as you can and fitting as much as possible. Brush the rest of the butter over the top of the bread.
5. Wrap tightly with the foil, and bake for 15 minutes. Unwrap foil and return to oven for 10 more. Serve hot.
