MARINARA SAUCE

Ingredients: 

2 (14 ½ oz) Cans diced tomatoes
1 (28 oz) Can crushed tomatoes
1 Can tomato sauce
½ C diced onion
1 T basil
2 t Italian seasoning
1 t garlic
Salt and pepper to taste
2 T sugar

    In a saucepan sauté onions (don’t let them brown)

  2. Add the drained liquid from the tomatoes, tomato sauce, garlic, the basil, Italian seasoning, sugar, salt, pepper.  Simmer liquid and spices for about 30 minutes, until the liquid is reduced by half.

  3. Add tomatoes and cook just until heated, about 1 – 2 minutes.  

  4. Serve over pasta.  

  5. Serves 6
