When I was a child, my grandmother would always keep these cookies on hand. To this day, they are still my favorite cookies.
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1 egg, beaten
1 t. vanilla extract
3/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 t. salt
1 t. baking powder
1/2 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
