Pear Crumble

1/2 cup flour
1/2 oats
1/4 brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp alspice
1/8 tsp salt
optional shake nutmeg
3 tbs butter - melted

2/3 cup dry red wine
1/2 sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp all spice
4 pear (1 1/2 lbs)

  1. core and slice pears
  2. combine sugar and wine, heat on medium high to dissolve
  3. reduce heat to simmer add cinnamon and allspice and lemon rind (optional) and pears, simmer 15 mins until tender
  4. Prepare streuusel - combine flour, oats, sugar, cinnamon, allspice, salt
  5. add butter and stir till crumbly
  6. Preheat to 350 degrees
  7. Place pears in 8 by 8 baking dish and cover with flour mixture 
  8. Bake 30 mins
  9. Serve with icecream or whip cream if desired
