Pizza Margherita with Waffled Crust

Notes: 

The marinara sauce pools in the nooks and crannies of the waffled crust while the cheese takes care of the rest. This recipe calls for using a broiler to melt the cheese on top, but if that seems like cheating, you can make a calzone instead with the instructions below.

Ingredients: 

Crust:
4 cups bread flour, plus more for dusting
1 teaspoon instant yeast
1 ½ teaspoons salt
1 ½ cups lukewarm water
Neutral-flavored oil, such as canola, for coating the bowl
Nonstick cooking spray

Topping:
3 cups marinara sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella
1 pint cherry tomatoes, halved (optional)
1 large bunch basil, washed, dried, and finely chopped
