Slow Cooker Creamy Ham and Potato Chowder

Ingredients: 

12 oz yellow potatoes, cut into ¾-inch pieces
1 large onion, chopped (about 1 cup)
Two 14.5- oz cans reduced-sodium chicken broth
¼ cup cornstarch
½ tsp dried thyme, crushed (or 1 tsp chopped fresh)
¼ tsp ground black pepper
One 12- oz can evaporated fat-free milk (1½ cups)
½ cup diced cooked lean ham
1 cup coarsely shredded carrots (2 medium)
1 cup broccoli florets, steamed
¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese (1- oz)
fresh thyme, for garnish (optional)
