Soutzoukakia Smyrneika recipe


For the soutzoukakia:

500 grams of beef mince
2 thick slices of day old bread with the crusts removed
1/4 cup of red wine
1 red onion finely chopped
2 garlic cloves minced
1 egg lightly beaten
a good “handful” of chopped flat leaf parsley
1/2 teaspoon of ground cumin
salt and pepper to taste

For the tomato sauce:

A few tablespoons of olive oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 can of chopped tomatoes
1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
salt and pepper to taste
