1/4 cup soy sauce
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
3 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 minced garlic clove
1 dash fresh grated ginger
In a saucepan, combine 1 cup water with brown sugar, soy sauce, ginger and garlic and bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
In a separate container or bowl, dissolve cornstarch into 1/4 cup cold water and slowly add to sauce, consistently stirring to allow sauce to thicken.
