Get Started - 100% free to try - join in 30 secondsI quit buying bread quite a while ago simply because I prefer baking my own. It takes time and it takes effort but it is addictive and the results can be staggeringly groovy. If you work a 9 to 5 then obviously this ‘labour of love’ is probably not going to fit into your routine but if you’re staring down the barrel of a wet and windy Sunday and the Playstation is broken…well why not.
This loaf has a wazz of whiskey in it just enough to give it a slight sting, I wouldn’t sling jam on it and stick it in a kids lunch box (well, I would…most people with kids probably wouldn’t) it’s more a port and cheese accompaniment, or warmed and spread with game pate or a terrine.
One whiskey loaf
500 grams strong brown bread flour
10 grams fresh yeast (dried is fine)
15grams salt
1 tbs runny honey
300grams luke warm water
1 tbs good whiskey
