Perfected Chocolate Chip Cookies

Notes:

I know everyone has "the best" recipe for these beloved cookies. We continued to perfect this recipe over the years and this makes a nice thick cookie which we prefer.

Ingredients:

2 sticks + 2 tablespoons of softened no salt butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup dark brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla (the real stuff)
3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 12oz bag semi sweet or milk (we prefer ghirardelli semi sweet) even white.
1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)-optional

  1. We use a professional Kitchen Aid Mixer
  2. Cream butter, sugar and add 1 egg at a time and then the other, secret #1mix utility fluffy we mix on high for several minutes, it will payoff in the end trust me.
  3. Add flour/baking soda/salt mixture a little at a time, until all is mixed together
  4. Add chocolate chips and nuts, and mix a little bit more, to avoid breaking the chips up.
  5. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for at least two hours
  6. Form into 1-1 1/2" disk (about 1/2" thick) and bake in a pre-heated oven at 375 of 8-10 minutes
  7. Sometimes we bake monster cookies by forming 3" disk, 1/2 thick
