Honey Chicken Char Siu

Ingredients: 

2 chicken thigh
2 eggs, boiled
a pinch of salt and pepper

for the marinade:
6 tbsp of soy sauce
4 tbsp of sake
4 tbsp of mirin
2 tbsp of honey
1/2 tbsp of oyster sauce
2 tsp of ginger, grated
1 tsp of garlic, grated


  1. Season the chicken thigh with salt and pepper.
  2. Roll up the chicken thigh. Close the end with a toothpick.
  3. Mix the ingredients for marinade in a bowl. Stir well.
  4. Soak the rolled chicken thigh in the marinade.
  5. Place a baking sheet on the chicken as a lid.
  6. Wrap the bowl loosely with a cling film and microwave it for 3.5 minutes (500W).
  7. Turn the chicken over and microwave it for 3.5 minutes (500W).
  8. If no red juice comes out when you pierce the chicken with a skewer, it's done.
  9. (Optional) Soak the chicken in the marinade in a resealable bag (ziploc) overnight.
