Chicken Curry (Saalan)

Ingredients: 

2 Whole Chicken (in pieces)
2 large Onions thinly Sliced
2 Tbsp Ginger paste
2 Tbsp Garlic Paste
2 Cups Youghurt
Fresh Corriander Chopped
1 Curry Container - Fried Onions
Chilli for Garnish
Powdered Masalas:
1 Tbsp Red Chilli
1 Tbsp Corriander Powder
1 Tbsp Salt
1Tbsp Turmeric Powder
Whole Masalas:
1 Tbsp Cumin Seeds
2 sticks Cinnamon
Black cardamom - 3 Pieces
Green Cardamom - 3-4 Pcs
Black Pepper - 6-8 pcs
Clove - 6-8 pcs


  1. Add oil - 4 scoops steel
  2. Heat the oil
  3. Add the Sliced Onion and fry until golden brown. Make Sure its not black
  4. Add the Whole Spices and fry for a few minutes until you smell the fragrance of the spices
  5. Add ginger paste and garlic paste and mix it. Dont cook too long after you add the paste
  6. Add the chicken to the pot and fry it until the chicken changes colour and becomes light brown
  7. Add powdered masalas and fry until everything is incorporated
  8. Keep frying until you see the oil separate from chicken
  9. Add Yoghurt and mix everything
  10. Add fried Onion and mix everything again
  11. Now put the heat to medium and cook for about 20 mins. Stir from time to time to prevent it from sticking to the pot. We cook it until the chicken is entirely cooked.
  12. Add water as you seem what you need for Shorba
  13. Wait until the curry starts boiling
  14. Then turn the flame off and add the corriander and chillis to the curry. 
  15. Leave the curry on the hot stove top for about 10 mins.
