Our family loves to share this French toast bake for special family occasions like my son’s birthday breakfast and when my sister’s family visits from out of town. Both fresh and frozen berries are scrumptious, so you can enjoy this treat year ’round.
12 slices French bread, sliced 1-inch thick
5 eggs, beaten
2-1/2 c. milk
1-3/4 c. brown sugar, packed and divided
1-1/2 t. vanilla extract
1-1/4 t. cinnamon
Optional: 1/2 t. nutmeg, 1/4 t. ground cloves
Optional: 1 c. chopped pecans
1/2 c. butter, melted
2 c. blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and/or blackberries
