It was a funny coincidence when Lillian Crawford, a friend and fellow Navy wife in Maine, called one day to see if I had a can of olives she could borrow to make her Tamale Pie. When we compared recipes we discovered she was using this exact recipe.
1 onion, chopped fine
2 T butter or margarine
1 green bell pepper, chopped
2 C tomatoes, coarsely chopped
1 T Worcestershire sauce
1 t salt
½ t chili powder
1 C whole kernel corn
1 egg, slightly beaten
½ lb ground meat
½ C yellow corn meal
6 ripe olives, sliced thin
