Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 cups cake flour
- 1 cup milk (1/2 regular milk, ½ coconut milk)
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 6 egg whites (beaten)
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ tablespoon almond extract
- Fresh grated coconut to sprinkle on the cake, and between cake layers*
For the ICING:
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 7 tablespoons hot water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 egg whites
- 1 tablespoon white Karo syrup
- pinch of salt
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
