Naan

Ingredients: 

800 g strong bread flour
225 ml warm water
2 1/2 teaspoons yeast
1 egg
3 Tablespoons of milk
2 minced drained garlic cloves (optional)
4 Tablespoons sugar
50 g butter, melted
2 teaspoons salt


  1. Combine yeast, water, and sugar
  2. Let stand until bubbly and frothy.
  3. Stir in milk, egg, salt
  4. Mix. Add enough flour to make dough soft. 
  5. Knead on lightly floured surface until smooth
  6. Place dough in well oiled bowl
  7. Cover with cloth and let rise for one hour
  8. Punch out dough and knead in garlic
  9. Pinch off small handfulls and roll into balls on floured surface (about 12)
  10. Set aside and cover with cloth for 30 minutes (until doubled in size)
  11. Roll into elongated oval
  12. Place onto baking tray
  13. Cook under preheated grill until slightly browned, about two minutes. Brush cooked side with melted butter.
  14. Flip, brush with butter, and cook until other side is firm and soft, about two minutes. 
  15. Serve warm.
