Ingredients necessary : 1st cut brisket (usually 4.99-5.99lb), bag of baby carrots, bag of small potatoes (either white or red), Lipton onion soup mix, corn starch, gravy master, garlic or garlic powder, onions (optional)
SEAR both sides of meat in big pot (fat side first) and onions
ADD water- enough to cover meat
ADD One package of Lipton Onion Soup Mix and garlic (to taste)
Bring this to a boil and then COVER and turn down flame to a simmer
LET THIS SIMMER FOR 1.5 HOURS
Take meat out of pot and slice it AGAINST THE GRAIN (IT IS EASIER TO SLICE WHEN IT IS NOT FULLY COOKED)
RETURN meat to the pot and continue cooking another hour
ADD carrots, potatoes, and sliced onion (optional)
LET THIS ALL COOK FOR ANOTHER HOUR
Combine 1/2 cup cornstarch with a little water until it looks like a glass of milk
Add gravy master to this until it turns into a coffee looking color
SLOWLY add the cornstarch liquid into the pot with one hand while MIXING with the other. THIS SHOULD THICKEN THE LIQUID SO THAT IT BECOMES A GRAVY. COOK another 15 minutes. DONE!!!
