Cake:
2 1/4 cups (11 1/4 ounces) all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
pinch of table salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons natural cocoa powder
1-1ounce bottle red food coloring
12 tablespoons (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cups (10 1/2 ounces) granulated sugar
Frosting:
16 tablespoons (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
4 cups (16 ounces) confectioner's sugar
16 ounces cream cheese, softened and cut into 8 pieces
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
pinch of table salt
