Ingredients: 

1 15-ounce can chickpeas, rinsed and thoroughly dried
½ large yellow onion, cut in 4 wedges
2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
2 tablespoons maple syrup, divided
2 tablespoons chopped sage leaves
kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
2 medium sweet potatoes
1 bunch kale, stems removed, chopped into rough 2-inch pieces
