La Kama Spice Blend

1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 teaspoon ground white pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cubeb pepper (optional)
1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg

Soup

1 medium onion, coarsely chopped
1 1/2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Coarse salt
2 pounds butternut, kabocha or calabaza squash—peeled, seeded and cut into 1 1/2-inch cubes
2 tablespoons tomato paste
4 cups water
1/2 cup crème fraîche or heavy cream
1/4 pound aged goat cheese, shredded
Harissa
Freshly ground black pepper
