1 cup lentils
2 cups water
1 bay leaf
8 ounces cremini mushrooms, thickly sliced
1 shallot, diced, 2 or 3 tablespoons
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup walnut pieces
1/2 cup loosely-packed fresh basil
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons miso
3 tablespoons olive oil
