Bourbon Molasses Cookies with Bourbon Buttercream (a.k.a the “Drunken Debbie”)

Notes: 

Makes 4 dozen cookies

Ingredients: 

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon ground all-spice
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup unsulphured, dark molasses
1/4 cup (packed) light brown sugar
1 large egg
Course sanding or turbinado sugar (for rolling)

Icing:
3/4 cups granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons reserved
3 large egg whites
2 sticks unsalted butter, cubed and chilled
3 tablespoons bourbon
