Banana Nut Bread

1/3 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. mashed ripe bananas
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

  1. Cream together shortening and sugar; add eggs and beat well
  2. Sift together dry ingredients.  Add to creamed mixture alternately with bananas, blending well after each addition.  Stir in nuts.
  3. Pour into well-greased 9 1/2 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes or until done.  Remove from pan; cool on rack.
