Beer Cake

Ingredients: 

2 C B sugar
1 C shortening
2 eggs
1 C chopped walnuts
1 C pitted dates
3 C cake flour
1 t cinnamon
1/2 t allspice
1/2 t salt
2 C beer
2 t baking soda

  1. Cream sugar, shortening
  2. Add eggs
  3. Beat well
  4. Add nuts and dates
  5. Sift together flour, spices, salt and soda
  6. Add alternately to sugar mixture
  7. with beer beating well after each addition
  8. Pour batter into greased and floured 10 inch tube pan
  9. Bake at 350* for 1 hour or until done
