- This was an extremely nice biscuit recipe, we enjoyed it immensely, and will definitely be making it again, however, just a word of warning, you won't get 12 biscuits. Using a 1/4 inch cup as instructed, I was able to get 8 smallish biscuits. Allow 2 biscuits per serving, so expect this recipe to serve 4. If you want 12 normal sized biscuits, recommend doubling recipe and use a 1/3 cup measure plus a tablespoon or two per biscuit.
- I use a mixture of 75% grated parmesan and 25% chopped cheddar, reduced the oven to 400 degrees. So good !
- This recipe works great and you can substitute powdered buttermilk for an even quicker version. Mix the powdered buttermilk with the flour and use cold water with the butter. It'll look a bit strange, it will mix up fine. Pull out a two ounce ice cream scoop and you can have these babies in the oven in five minutes tops.
2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon sugar
3/4 teaspoon table salt
1 cup cold buttermilk
8 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly (about 5 minutes), plus 2 tablespoons melted butter for brushing biscuits
