Champurrado

Serves 2-4

Ingredients: 

1/4 cup masa harina
2 cups water
2 cups milk
1 round Mexican Chocolate, coarsely chopped
2 cones piloncillo (or sub 2 oz granulated sugar)
1 pinch ground anise seed (optional)


  1. In a large pot, over medium-high heat, mix the masa harina together with the water using a whisk, until it is thorouhgly blended.
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients and whisk vigorously until chocolate and sugar are melted and blended and a slight froth forms
  3. Ladle into mugs
  4. Serve hot.
