Cheese Straws

1 cup flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 Tbs butter
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese - sharp
1/3 cup cold water

  1.  Preheat oven.  Sift flour, baking powder, and salt in medium bowl.  Cut
    in butter until mixture is crumble.  Add cheese and toss till well blended.
  2. 2. Sprinkle water over mixture.  MIx lightly with fork until pastry holds
  3. 3. Roll on floured surface to a 12 x 10 rectangle.  Cut in 1/2 lengthwise
    then cut each half crosswise into 1/2 " strips.  Lift one at a time, twist
    and place 1" apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  4. 4. Bake at 425 for 10 minutes or until lightly golden.  Cool on wire racks.
