Chewy Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients: 

1 C flour
3/4 t baking soda
1/2 t salt
1 t cinnamon
1/4 t nutmeg
3/4 C shortening
1 1/3 C B sugar Firmly packed
2 eggs
1 t vanilla
2 C oats
1 C raisins ( optional )

  1. Sift flour, soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  2. Mix the shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla together.
  3. Add the dry ingrediants to the wet mixture and beat until smooth.
  4. Add in the oats and raisins.
  5. Drop by tsp onto greased cookie sheet.
  6. Bake in 350* oven for 12 to 15 minutes
  7. Makes about 3 1/2 dozen.
