1/3 stick butter
1/2 cup diced onions
1/2 cup fresh mushrooms (I know you probably wont do this part)
2 cups sliced green beans (I like to go get fresh green beans from the produce)
3 cups chicken broth (you could probably use any broth you wanted though)
1 (10 3/4 ounce) cream of whatever you want (I do mushroom - but again, see above)
1 (2.8 ounce) can of french-fried onions
1 cup grated cheese
1 pinch of house seasoning (recipe for house seasoning to follow)
preheat oven to 350
melt the butter in a large skillet. Saute onions (and mushrooms) in the butter. Boil green beans in broth for 10 minutes and drain. Add the green beans, cream of whatever, 3/4s of the french-fried onions, and house seasoning to the sauteed goods. Stir well. Pour into a greased 1 1/2 quart baking dish (I like my stoneware - but whatever works). Bake for 20 minutes, then top the casserole with the cheese and the remainder of the french-fried onions and bake for an additional 10 minutes or so (basically until you feel the cheese has melted to your liking).
