Date Nut Cake

Ingredients:

1 lb dates cut fine
2 C boiling water
2 C sugar
2 eggs
2 t oleo
1 t vanilla
1/2 t salt
3 C flour sifted
2 t soda
1 C pecans or walnuts if desired

Pour boiling water over dates and let stand until cool (dates will be almost dissolved)
Cream together sugar, eggs, oleo, vanilla and salt
Add flour and soda
Mix all together including dates and water mixture
Add nuts if desired
Bake at 350* for 40 minutes
May take a little over 40 or a lettle less
Test with toothpick until clean
