1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/8 teaspoon salt
3 egg yolk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
Maple Icing:
1/4 cup half and half
1/4 cup melted butter
3 tablespoon maple syrup
3 cups powered sugar
Preheat oven to 300 degrees
In a mixer beat butter and shortening on medium for 30 seconds. Add sugars, maple syrup, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt then beat until well combined.
Add in egg yolks, vanilla, and the flour. Shape dough info 1 inch balls and place 2 inches apart on a parchment lined cookie sheet.
Bake 12-14 minutes or until edges just begin to turn brown. Cool and drizzle with maple icing.
Maple Icing:
Combine 1/4 cup half and half, 1/4 cup melted butter and 3 tablespoons maple syrup
Add in 3 cups powered sugar to make icing drizzle consistency (Add more if needed), drizzle over cooled cookies.
