Mongolian Chicken

Ingredients: 

1 tablespoon fresh garlic, minced
2 tablespoons avocado oil
2 teaspoons fresh ginger, minced
1 tablespoon cornstarch for coating
1 lb chicken breast or thighs cut into thin strips
2 bunches green onions, cut into 2-inch pieces
2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
½ cup soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
¼ teaspoon black pepper
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup water
2 teaspoons cornstarch
