Recipe: NAAN
1lb White flour (All Purpose Flour)
1 packet of yeast
1/2 cup yogurt
1/2 milk
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl (preferably early in the morning so it can rise). Combine the ingredients until firm yet soft. (other words medium..not too tough. Don't kneed it too much...it'll get tough and chewy..don't want that) Set the dough aside at room temp.
Take the dough and separate into small pieces. Roll out each piece..about an inch thick. Then put a piece onto a pizza plate and spread melted purified butter on each piece. Then place one slice at time in the oven. Leave in oven until golden brown..should take about 10-15 minutes. Keep checking on them though..they will burn!
Now the second way to do it would be in a frying pan . Put about 2-3 teaspoons of melted butter in a pan on medium heat and place a piece of the dough in it. While the bottom side is finishing up spread a teaspoon of melted butter on the top side and then flip over. Should take another couple minutes and then take out and place on a tissue paper.
ENJOY!!
P.S. the frying pan may work out better for you. It's easier.
Recipe for Dhaal Makhani
Ingredients:
lentil (moong)--1lb
1 onion
2 medium sized tomatoes
1 cerrano pepper (small...if you don't eat spicy take out the seeds or dont use at all)
2 pieces of garlic (or if you have the ready diced about teaspoon worth)
Salt
Canola Oil (NOT olive oil!!!)
RECIPE:
soak lentils for 2 1/2 hours in cold water. Cut onions first, then tomatoes. In a pot, put 2 teaspoons of canola oil and add the onions and tomatoes until light brown (translucent) then add the tomatoes along with the thinnly diced garlic and cerrano pepper.
Separately in a pot put the lentils in a and bring to a boil until lentils are soft. Takes about 1/2hour to 1hour and add a teaspoon of salt.
In the pot of sauteed onions and tomatoes add the lentil once done. Leave at low temperature for about 5 minutes.
I'd boil the lentils a bit before you start cooking the onions and tomatoes so that the lentils can be ready for you instead of you waiting for them.
PS. if you can't find lentils....kidney beans can be substituted.
