Ingredients: 

5 thick-cut slices bacon, cut crosswise into 1/3-inch-thick pieces
Olive oil, if needed
5 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 medium green cabbage (about 2 pounds), cut through the core into 1/4-inch-thick wedges
1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
1 bay leaf
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 1/2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
