Pasta with Kale and Walnut Pesto

Ingredients: 

1/3 cup plus 2 Tbsp walnuts
1 bunch kale, thick stems discarded and leaves torn (about 12 cups)
1 cup grated pecorino (2 oz), plus more for serving (*I couldn't find pecorino, so I used a mixture of parmesan, romano and asiago)
1 small clove garlic
Kosher salt and black pepper
1/2 cup olive oil
3/4 pound fusili, penne, or some other short pasta
