Rice Pudding

Recipe byJohn_McCue
Notes:

This family recipe dates back to the Depression in the Northern Neck of Virginia, an area that at the time was so isolated that you could only get there by boat. Then during the Depression, the horse trails were grated and roads were made, changing the way of life there.

Ingredients:

2 heaping tbls cooked rice
1 qt whole milk
1 tsp butter
2 tbls sugar
1 small handful scalded raisins

  1. Scald the raisins by putting them in brandy, whiskey or moonshine till just covered and heat till the alcohol is boiled away.
  2. Mix the ingredients together and bake in a moderate oven (interpreted to be 325 degrees)
  3. Stir frequently while baking to keep from sticking on the bottom.
