It's a boom in vegans. A diet but also a lifestyle that is increasingly followed also in the peninsula. In Italy there are at least 400 thousand, out of a total of about 5 million vegetarians, the Eurispes 2011 report reveals it. Easy to choose but difficult to maintain, it requires drastic elimination not only of meat but also milk and eggs and giving up wool, leather and duvets. On 1 November the Vegan World Day was celebrated, an occasion to spread some data: the vegetarian diet is followed mainly by women, 7.2% against 5.3% of men, vegans are 0.5% % against 0.3% of males . The meatless diet is followed by a good percentage of very young, between 18 and 24 years, 13.5% while the over 65s are 9.3%.

The contraindications? the risk is that of a diet with vitamin B12 deficiency. Vitamin that however is produced by the bacteria of the intestine, besides being present in foods of animal origin. For the rest, expert opinion, giving up food of animal origin does not create problems; it is a substantially safe diet in all phases of human life, the important thing is to study it well. It is also good for children because after two years there is no longer the need for milk, as the nutrients present in this food are also found in other foods.

Seafood Crostini Recipe

Type of dish : Appetizer 

Main ingredient : Calamaretti

Ingredients : 

1 loaf bread 

250 g squid 

250 g prawns 

1 egg

clove garlic garlic breadcrumbs 

parsley 

olive oil 

salt 

pepper

Preparation it is always very very important: 

Clean and wash the baby squid, shell the prawns and coarsely chop the whole. Mix with the egg, add the garlic and a sprig of chopped parsley, two tablespoons of very fresh breadcrumbs. Season with oil, salt and pepper. Cut the slices of bread diagonally and spread a generous layer of dough over them. Put in a preheated oven at 170 degrees for a quarter of an hour. Withdraw and serve immediately at the table. Accompanying wines: Grave Del Friuli Bianco DOC, Verdicchio Dei Castelli Di Jesi (also 'Spumante') DOC, Vermentino Di Sardegna DOC.

Cooked Frogs Recipe

Type of dish : Meat 

Main ingredient : Frogs

Ingredients : 

30 Frogs;150 G;Olive Oil Flour;Milk Eggs;Salt

Preparation it is always very very important:

Clean the frogs leaving the liver and the eggs if they have any. Keep them in cold water from 7-8 hours,changing it often. Boil them until half cooked in 100 cl of salted water, drain and dry. Serve hot.
