Ingredients: 

Makes enough for 2-3 people

1 cup Rava / Sooji (Semolina)
1 inch Ginger chopped or grated
1 chopped Onion - medium pieces
2 Green Chillies slit sideways
1/2 lemon
1 tsp Mustard Seeds
Salt to taste
2 tblsp Oil
Few curry leaves


  1. Heat 1tbsp. pure ghee / unsalted butter and fry rava, on a moderate heat, stiring constantly to light brown color and set aside.
  2. Now heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and allow them to splatter.
  3. Add the curry leaves, ginger and green chilies. Heat for a minute or so.
  4. Add the onion and heat till the onion gets cooked.
  5. Add salt to taste.
  6. Sift rava and add it to the above. Stir and heat this till the oil is absorbed by the rava and the rava's color changes.
  7. Now add 3 cups of water and cover the pan and allow it simmer on low heat until it's done. Add lemon juice.
  8. Take off from the heat and serve hot garnished with cashews and coriander.
