This is a recipe from my Baba, as we called my grandmother. She knew all the old Slovakian ways of making food stretch.
3 slices white bread
3 lbs. ground beef
2 eggs, beaten
1 onion, chopped
1/4 c. fresh parsley, chopped
1 c. milk
5 potatoes, peeled and halved
5 stalks celery, halved lengthwise
2 to 3 T. margarine, thinly sliced
pepper to taste
