6 strips thick-cut bacon, sliced crosswise into 1/2-in thick strips
1 large yellow onion, chopped
salt and pepper, to taste
1 large sweet potato, chopped into 1/2-in cubes
1/2 lb creasy greens, washed thoroughly and patted dry
