Snickerdoodles

Ingredients: 

1 C shortening/butter gives better flavor
1 1/2 C sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 C flour
2 t cream of tarter
1 t soda
1/2 t salt
2 T sugar
1 T cinnamon


  1. Mix together shortening, sugar and eggs
  2. Sift together flour, soda, salt and cream of tarter
  3. Add flour to shortening mixture
  4. Roll in balls the size of a walnut
  5. Roll ball in sugar and cinnamon mixture
  6. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet
  7. Bake at 400* until lightly browned but still soft (about 8 to 10 minutes)
  8. Thess cookies puff up at first then flatten out with crimpled tops
  9. Makes about 5 dozen
